Job Summary

The incumbent will perform heavy-duty and light duty cleaning and related maintenance work in an assigned area or building complex.

This is an evening shift position; Monday-Thursday 7 - 11 P.M. and Friday 7 - 10:30 P.M.

Typical Job Functions

Cleaning/MaintenancePerform heavy duty cleaning in classrooms, lavatories, laboratories, and other assigned areas.

Clean, sanitize, and polish lavatory fixtures.

Sanitize furniture, woodwork, walls, windows, and glass items

Shampoo carpet, and furniture

Clean light fixtures, and replace light bulbs.

Remove waste and debris from assigned areas

Measure and mix compounds, disinfectants, and sanitizing agents and applies according to procedures or manufacturers' specifications.

Sweep, mop, buff, strip, seal, on floor in assigned areas.

Wash inside and outside windows in single and multi-story buildings.

Perform preventive maintenance on cleaning equipment.

Verify doors are locked, lights are off, and appliances are off.

Report fire hazards and other hazards as warranted.

Shovel snow from walkways, and spread ice melt in assigned areas.

Remove trash and boxes from assigned areas.

Communicate with foreman when supplies are low in assigned areas.

Maintain a clean and organized work space.

Ability to lift 65 pounds and on occasion, items up to 90 pounds

Equipment OperationOperate heavy-duty scrubbers, buffers, shampooers, vacuums, and wet/dry equipment. Perform preventive maintenance on cleaning equipment.

Finish floors using floor buffers, strippers, and final finishers. Use snow blowers, airlift platforms, dollies, ladders and hand carts.

MiscellaneousPerform a variety of duties to help ensure facilities operate smoothly. This may include setting-up bleachers, tables, and chairs for special events, and providing direction and answering basic questions regarding events for patrons. Move furniture, appliances, and similar heavy items. Perform other miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Willingness toperform duties associated with commercial cleaning, including operating industrial-type cleaning equipment such as high-speed buffers and vacuum cleaners Ability to lift and move heavy items such as tables, chairs, and bleachers Ability to repair and maintain custodial equipment Knowledge of computers Incumbent must reside in Idaho (Currently CEI doesn't sponsor H-1B Visas)

Additional Desired Qualifications

Experience performing duties associated with commercial cleaning Experience with repairing and maintaining custodial equipment Experience operating computer system Bilingual (Spanish)

Physical Demands and Work Environment

This position involves lifting and carrying items weighing approximately 90 pounds, bending, stooping, and climbing ladders. Incumbent will constantly be on their feet during their scheduled shift. Incumbent may work in all weather conditions and move in and around confined spaces.On-site work is essential and regular predictable attendance is required. Employees may be required to work at occasional events and handle tasks outside of regular working hours.

Background Investigations:Employment at College of Eastern Idaho will be contingent upon the successful completion of a criminal background investigation and may require a credit and/or motor vehicle background investigation depending on the position. Please refer to Policy 225: Background Checks
