Position Responsibilities:
The University of Idaho College of Engineering welcomes applications for a tenure-track assistant, or a tenured associate or full professor in industrial engineering. Exceptional candidates may be eligible for a tenured appointment. Rank and tenure are negotiable based on how the candidate meets the criteria outlined in the college and department bylaws.
Successful candidates are expected to have demonstrated a strong record of innovative, collaborative, and visionary engagement in the areas of industrial engineering or engineering management. Applicants with expertise in advanced manufacturing, AI and machine learning, or industrial robotics/automated systems are especially invited to apply. They must have a Ph.D. degree in industrial engineering, engineering management, or a closely related field and will demonstrate a strong commitment to impactful research and teaching and advise/mentor undergraduate and graduate students.
The selected candidate will be expected to develop a strong research program funded by external grants from federal and state agencies as well as collaboration with industry. This new hire will join the department in developing new undergraduate and graduate programs in industrial engineering to complement existing programs in engineering management, technology management, and industrial technology. Applicants with a proven track record of working with industry partners to develop applied research projects or advanced manufacturing solutions are particularly encouraged to apply.
Unit/Department Summary:
The Department of Nuclear Engineering and Industrial Management was formed during the summer of 2020 by bringing together graduate degree programs of nuclear engineering, engineering management, technology management and an undergraduate degree program of industrial technology. The department is located in Idaho Falls and has a close relationship with the Idaho National Laboratory.
