Do you want to make a positive impact on the lives of Idaho's children and families? Do you have personal or professional experience within or in support of programs serving youth and families and/or the child welfare system? If so, we are seeking applicants for Family Service Workers to join our Division of Child, Youth, and Family Services. This position is based in our Idaho Falls office.

This position may be eligible for telework after successful completion of probation and necessary training. Approval to telecommute is not guaranteed and is subject to change.

IMPORTANT: Incumbents will be required to participate in the Child Welfare Academy to learn Idaho child welfare practices and standards and complete related assignments. During the probationary period, incumbents will carry a reduced child welfare caseload under supervision to gain necessary skills. Some travel will be required.

For a full-time Family Services Worker earning $25.51/hour, the total estimated hourly compensation with benefits is $37.42/hour.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES:

  • Assess and process referrals for child abuse or neglect, conduct interviews to evaluate the mental, physical, economic, and social status of clients and families.
  • Determine substantiation of referrals and prepare intake reports.
  • Design, organize, and monitor case plans utilizing community resources.
  • Facilitate access to support services.
  • Complete need and risk assessments, determine eligibility, and develop safety plans.
  • Manage a full caseload in child welfare.
  • Participate in team staffing and modify treatment plans accordingly.
  • Maintain case records, prepare court reports, affidavits, and provide court testimony.
  • Determine client placement, ensure least restrictive environments, and provide crisis intervention and after-hours services.
  • Provide client counseling and social services to support family preservation and client self-determination.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Knowledge of human services principles, behavioral management, social and family systems, and case management. Typically gained through certification or a relevant degree, or equivalent experience.
  • Computer literacy for data entry, communication, and documentation.
  • Valid driver's license.
