Facilities and Engineering Manager/Technical Facilities Manager

Position Overview

The Facilities and Engineering Manager is responsible for ensuring that our buildings, equipment, and operational systems across Idaho, Montana, and Utah operate at peak safety, reliability, and performance. We are seeking a candidate with an engineering mindset - preferably with a background in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Industrial Automation - who can manage facilities, lead technical improvement initiatives, and support advanced equipment troubleshooting including PLC programming and electrical diagnostics.

This role combines hands-on facility oversight with systems thinking, project leadership, and team development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Engineering and Automation Leadership
    • Lead equipment upgrades, process improvements, and reliability initiatives across all facilities.
    • Analyze and solve recurring technical problems through root cause analysis and engineered solutions.
    • Program, troubleshoot, and optimize PLC-based control systems (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens).
    • Read, interpret, and apply electrical schematics, control panel diagrams, and wiring layouts to efficiently troubleshoot and repair electrical issues.
    • Implement small design changes or retrofits to mechanical, electrical, or automated systems to improve safety, reliability, or efficiency.
  • Facilities Management
    • Manage maintenance and upkeep of all buildings, utilities, and equipment infrastructure.
    • Oversee the coordination of equipment installations, refurbishments, and facility projects.
    • Conduct regular inspections to identify and resolve maintenance and operational risks proactively.
  • Maintenance Systems Management
    • Manage a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to schedule, track, and report maintenance activities and costs.
    • Manage preventative and predictive maintenance programs.
    • Maintain an organized spare parts inventory to minimize downtime.
    • Oversee the management, calibration, and organization of facility and maintenance tools to ensure operational readiness and accountability.
  • Team and Vendor Management
    • Lead, train, and mentor maintenance technicians and contractors across multiple locations.
    • Manage external vendors responsible for waste management, pest control, landscaping, janitorial services, and building security.
    • Partner closely with the Safety Manager to ensure regulatory compliance and promote a culture of operational safety.
  • Travel and Emergency Response
    • Weekly travel between Idaho, Montana, and Utah facilities to provide on-site leadership and technical support.
    • Remain available for after-hours emergencies concerning safety, equipment, or facilities.
  • Additional Responsibilities
    • Take initiative to identify, recommend, and execute additional tasks or projects that support facility reliability, safety, and operational efficiency.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Industrial Engineering, or a closely related field preferred.
  • 3+ years of progressive experience in facility management, maintenance supervision, or technical operations roles.
  • Strong, demonstrated experience programming and troubleshooting PLCs.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, and control wiring diagrams.
  • Hands-on knowledge of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and HVAC systems.
  • Proficient with CMMS platforms, Microsoft Office Suite, and Google Workspace.
  • Strong organizational, leadership, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • OSHA 30 certification (or ability to obtain).
  • Experience managing multi-site operations is a plus.
