The Compliance team is recruiting for a Tax Compliance Officer 2 in the Idaho FallsField Office.

Summary:
To investigate, collect and enforce payment of delinquent tax liabilities; provide taxpayer assistance and education and perform related work.
Responsibilities:
Confer with taxpayers, accountants, attorneys and corporate officers to determine methods of liquidating tax liabilities
Interact with legal staff and prepare summons to obtain banking and financial records
Coordinate compliance efforts with other federal and state departments
Investigations
Collection and enforcement
Responsible for interviewing individuals to obtain financial information regarding assets and preparing investigative reports and coordinating activities with other agencies
Search state and county records to locate and/or determine ownership of personal and real property for attachment and determine and assign liability in partnerships and corporations
Use skip tracing methods to locate difficult-to-find taxpayers
Taxpayer assistance.
Advise taxpayers and their representatives regarding tax laws, reporting forms and filing requirements
Provide technical advice to taxpayers in preparing and filing tax returns, resolving problems, establishing accounting systems and providing appropriate tax records
Requires field work and speaking to taxpayers in their businesses and at residential addresses
Minimum Qualifications:
Some knowledge of:
Financial statement analysis and interpretation (typically gained by six credits of college level business or accounting classes OR minimum 1 year as a Compliance Officer)
Financial investigation methods to include gathering evidence, analyzing facts and identifying assets (typically gained by one year of experience as a Tax Compliance Officer OR equivalent which included a caseload that required investigation of taxpayer's financial assets or liabilities OR one year in a related financial services field investigating individual's financial assets or liabilities)
Good knowledge of:
Collection procedures (typically gained by two years experience in collections using procedures involving due process) or combination of training
Interview techniques to gather sensitive and personal information. (typically gained by six months of full time experience interviewing customers regarding highly sensitive, confidential, and personal information where the customers were reluctant to respond. This was a regular or frequent part of my job.)
Experience:
At least 2 year of experience using collection procedures involving due process outside of an office environment
At least 1 year of experience independently working with hostile and angry individuals outside of the office
At least 1 year of experience independently organizing a workload and meeting organizational deadlines
Requires valid driver's license OR ability to meet the transportation needs of this position
