Overview

As a Scientist Skin, Sun & Lip Care, you will play a key role in developing, testing, and optimizing innovative formulations across Melaleucas Personal Care portfolio. Working under the guidance of senior scientists and R&D leadership, youll apply your formulation chemistry expertise to bring safe, effective, and naturally inspired products to market. This is a hands-on role in our state-of-the-art R&D facility, where curiosity, precision, and collaboration come together to create the next generation of Skin, Sun, and Lip Care products that support Melaleucas mission of Enhancing Lives.

Responsibilities

  • Support Product Development: Formulate and evaluate new Personal Care products (skincare, sun care, lip care, etc.) that meet safety, performance, and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct Testing: Perform and document laboratory experiments, including stability, safety, efficacy, and sensory testing.
  • Collaborate Across Teams: Work closely with other scientists, R&D leadership, Regulatory, and Marketing to ensure formulas meet project objectives and timelines.
  • Maintain Quality Standards: Ensure formulations comply with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and global cosmetic regulations.
  • Evaluate Ingredients & Technologies: Research and assess new raw materials, formulation techniques, and consumer trends.
  • Support Claims & Substantiation: Assist in data generation and testing to support product claims and documentation.
  • Drive Continuous Improvement: Contribute to optimization of existing products for improved performance, cost efficiency, or sustainability.
  • Document Work Thoroughly: Prepare technical reports, maintain detailed lab notebooks, and communicate results clearly to project stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelors or Masters degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related scientific field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of industry experience in formulation development, ideally within Personal Care, Beauty, or related FMCG categories.
  • Technical Skills: Hands-on experience with formulation chemistry, laboratory testing, and stability or performance evaluation.
  • Knowledge Base: Familiarity with cosmetic regulations, raw material functionality, and Good Laboratory or Manufacturing Practices.
  • Analytical Ability: Skilled in experimental design, data analysis, and technical documentation.
  • Team Collaboration: Proven ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.
  • Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly present technical results.
  • Curiosity & Drive: A passion for learning, problem-solving, and contributing to innovations that enhance lives.
  • Relocation: Ability to relocate to Idaho Falls, ID and work in-office 5 days a week.
