Pay Rate / Salary (Ranges OK) : $100-$120k/yr base(OTE $200K)
Position Summary
We're looking for an experienced and driven Account Executive to join our high-performing sales team, with a specialized focus on selling SaaS solutions to public sector clients including municipalities, counties, and other government entities. This is an exciting opportunity to work in the fast-growing GovTech space, helping local governments modernize operations and better serve their communities through digital transformation.
The ideal candidate brings deep experience in navigating public sector sales cycles, thrives in a consultative selling environment, and is passionate about solving complex problems with technology. You'll be responsible for owning the full sales cycle, from identifying new opportunities through contract executiondriving revenue growth and establishing Avolve Software as a trusted GovTech partner.
You'll report directly to the Sales Director and play a critical role in expanding our government customer base across a multi-state territory.
Key Responsibilities
Strategically prospect and engage government decision-makers across city, county, and municipal agencies to identify new SaaS opportunities.
Build and nurture relationships with key public sector stakeholders, including CIOs, department heads, procurement officers, and elected officials.
Conduct detailed discovery to understand agency workflows, pain points, and procurement cycles.
Lead government sales cycles with a consultative approachcrafting tailored value propositions and navigating complex RFP/RFI and budgeting processes.
Partner cross-functionally with internal teams (Product, Marketing, Customer Success) to align solutions with government-specific requirements and compliance needs.
Maintain detailed sales activity tracking and pipeline forecasting in Salesforce.
Stay informed on trends in GovTech, civic innovation, and digital government initiatives to position our products effectively in the market.
Meet and exceed assigned revenue targets while contributing to the company's long-term growth in the public sector vertical.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Business, Public Administration, Political Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
5+ years of experience in SaaS or enterprise technology sales with a clear focus on selling to the public sector.
Proven success in navigating government procurement processes, including RFPs, budget cycles, and legislative approvals.
Strong understanding of local government structures and buying behaviors.
Track record of closing six-figure deals within city, county, or state agencies.
Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills with a confident executive presence.
Proficient with CRM systems (Salesforce preferred) and remote selling tools.
Self-starter who excels in a remote-first environment and can effectively prioritize across multiple open deals.
Preferred Qualifications
Deep understanding of the GovTech landscape, including civic engagement platforms, permitting/planning software, or digital infrastructure tools.
Prior experience working with government IT or procurement officers.
Familiarity with consultative selling frameworks such as Challenger, SPIN, or MEDDIC.
