Position Summary:
This Data & AI Architect will lead the design, development, and implementation of our enterprise data and AI strategy. This role is pivotal in shaping the future of our data ecosystem, spanning multiple business entities and technology platforms. The architect will drive modernization initiatives across AWS and Azure, lead our early AI journey, and ensure a robust, compliant foundation for advanced analytics and self-service capabilities.
This is a Remote/Work from Home position reporting to the Sr. Director of Enterprise Architecture.
What you will do:
Data Strategy
Define and own the enterprise data & AI architecture roadmap, aligning with business and regulatory requirements and identifying high-impact AI use cases across customer experience, operations, and business insights.
Lead data architecture innovation through proof-of-concepts and pilot programs including the migration from SQL Server to Azure Fabric Lakehouse ensuring business continuity for BI/reporting.
Champion self-service reporting & analytics through Power BI and emerging AI tools.
Enable a 360-degree customer view by integrating Salesforce CRM, NetSuite ERP, and other enterprise platforms.
Evaluate and recommend emerging technologies (e.g., AI/ML, data virtualization, knowledge graphs) that enhance data capabilities.
Data Architecture
Define, maintain and enforce data architecture principles, standards, patterns, and policies.
Establish enterprise patterns and standards for data modeling, lineage, metadata, and quality.
Develop canonical data models and enable data reusability across business domains.
Architect data integration across AWS-based source systems (Couchbase, MySQL, DynamoDB, Influx DB), Salesforce, NetSuite, and Azure Fabric as the central Data Lakehouse.
AI & Advanced Analytics
Lead the adoption of AI/ML platforms and frameworks within the Azure and AWS ecosystems.
Collaborate with business insights, operations, and finance teams to operationalize AI/ML models & solutions while ensuring scalability.
Compliance & Governance
Ensure all data and AI solutions adhere to FCC, HIPAA, PCI, and other relevant regulations.
Establish and enforce data governance, privacy, and security frameworks.
Implement best practices for data quality, metadata management, and lineage tracking.
Leadership & Collaboration
Partner with IT, business leaders, and product owners to deliver a unified, multi-company data strategy.
Mentor and guide data engineers, BI developers, and other architects.
Act as a thought leader, influencing the organization's culture toward data-driven decision-making and AI adoption.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering
10+ years of experience in enterprise data architecture, with deep expertise across Azure and AWS ecosystems.
Proven track record of data platform modernization and cloud-native lakehouse architecture and migration with Azure Fabric.
Strong knowledge of databases (SQL & NoSQL), data warehousing, streaming platforms (Kafka), and data integration frameworks.
Proficiency in SQL, Python, and modern data orchestration tools.
Hands-on experience with Power BI, Azure Fabric, and AWS data services.
Hands-on xperience with ETL/ELT tools, data cataloging, metadata management, and data lineage tools.
Experience leading enterprise AI/ML adoption, including MLOps, model governance, and scaling AI solutions.
Strong understanding of data privacy, regulatory compliance (HIPAA, FCC, etc.), and governance best practices.
Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
Excellent communication skills for stakeholder management and executive updates
Ability to translate complex technical concepts for diverse audiences
Experience working with cross-functional teams and vendor partners
Program/project leadership of complex, multi-domain technical initiatives
Self-starter with strong organizational and time management skills, self-directed and able to handle multiple priorities with demanding timeframes.
Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and staff to create a high-quality results-driven, team-oriented environment.
Demonstrated ability to use discretion, make sound decisions, and maintain confidentiality.
Proficient in MS Office, modern communication tools for virtual teams (i.e., MS Teams)
Preferred
Familiarity with Salesforce, NetSuite, and enterprise application integration.
Experience building customer 360 platforms.
Experience in telecom, healthcare, or regulated industries.
Certifications in Azure Data/AI, AWS Data/AI, or enterprise architecture (TOGAF, Zachman, etc.).

Compensation:
$135,000 to $145,000 plus 10% determined by competitive market analysis and internal equity considerations. Final compensation will be based on the candidate's qualifications, experience, and business needs.
