ARTS EVENT CREWDepartment: Cultural ArtsReports To: Office ManagerEmployment Type: Part-Time/TemporaryLocation: City of Rexburg Cultural Arts Facilities and Event VenuesJob SummaryThe Event Crew member is responsible for providing operational support for cultural arts events, including festivals, performances, exhibitions, and community programs. This role ensures a safe, welcoming, friendly, and enjoyable experience for attendees while assisting with event setup, execution, breakdown, and managing point-of-sale operations. Event Crew members work collaboratively with the Cultural Arts Department team to deliver high-quality events that align with the department's mission to promote cultural engagement and community enrichment.Key Responsibilities* Event Setup and Breakdown: Assist with the setup and teardown of event spaces, including arranging tables, chairs, signage, decorations, and equipment as directed.* Guest Services: Greet attendees, provide information, answer questions, and assist with wayfinding to ensure a positive guest experience.* Crowd Management: Monitor event areas to ensure safety, manage crowd flow, and enforce event policies and safety protocols.* Ticketing and Admissions: Assist with ticket scanning, wristband distribution, or check-in processes as needed.* Point-of-Sale Operations: Manage point-of-sale systems, handle cash and credit card transactions accurately, and maintain records of sales for concessions and retail merchandise.* Concessions and Merchandise Sales: Sell and manage inventory for concessions (e.g., food and beverages) and retail merchandise (e.g., event souvenirs, artist products), ensuring proper stock levels and display setup.* Venue Maintenance: Maintain cleanliness and organization of event spaces, including restocking supplies, clearing debris, and reporting any maintenance issues.* Program Support: Support performers, artists, or vendors by assisting with basic logistical needs, such as delivering supplies or escorting them to designated areas.* Emergency Response: Follow established safety protocols and assist with emergency procedures, including evacuations or first aid coordination, as trained.* Team Collaboration: Work closely with other event staff, volunteers, and department personnel to ensure smooth event operations.* Other Duties: Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Office Manager to support the success of the event.Qualifications* Experience: Previous experience in event support, customer service, hospitality, or cash handling is a plus but not required.* Skills and Abilities:* Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact with diverse audiences in a friendly manner.* Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.* Basic math skills for handling money and managing point-of-sale transactions.* Physical stamina to stand for extended periods, lift up to 25 pounds, and assist with setup/breakdown tasks.* Basic problem-solving skills and a customer-focused attitude.* Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by event schedules.* Entry level computer skills.* Other Requirements:* Must be at least 17 years of age.* Reliable transportation to and from event venues.* Ability to follow instructions and work effectively in a team setting.* Personal mobile phone with app capabilities.Working Conditions* Work is performed indoors and outdoors, depending on the event, and may involve exposure to varying weather conditions.* Shifts may include evenings, weekends, and holidays, with varying hours based on event schedules.* This role requires standing, walking, and light physical activity for extended periods.* Event Crew members will interact frequently with other staff members, volunteers, and the public, requiring strong teamwork and customer service skills.Compensation* Hourly wage: $9 - $12 depending on experience* Paid training provided.* Opportunities for additional hours during peak event seasons.
